Deus Ex Short Film Release

Finally a video game adaptation that gamers can actually love. Short film director Moe Charif has created a beautiful recreation of the world of Deus Ex in his new film titled ‘Human Revolution’. The film is loosely based on the 2011 cyberpunk Masterpiece Deus Ex: Human Revolution, only with a few minor plot details changed. The lead protagonist remains the augmented security guard extraordinaire Adam Jensen, played by Charif himself and the female lead is still Jensen’s beloved ex girlfriend Megan Reed, played by Liannet Borrego. The two main villains are Bob Page and Yelena Fedorova played by Antoni Corone and Shayna Nicole E’Orio. All characters bear a striking resemblance to their pixelated counterparts and are portrayed very well indeed despite the admitted slight lack of emotional depth given to the characters in the original game.

Deus Ex comparison

Despite the film’s short length and limited budget it goes way beyond what any other video game adaptation has accomplished. In terms of its authenticity and its uncompromising loyalty to the source material, as a fan of the series you really couldn’t ask for much more, which is more than you can say for the vast majority of other Video Game movies. If more Game adaptations were made to this standard, we would surely live in a better world. If you would like to see more of Moe’s work you can go to his website here, or you can follow him on Twitter @MoeCharif. Thanks for reading, enjoy the film.

GTA Online: Owning Multiple Apartments

According to a crafty Reddit user, GTA Online players will soon be able to buy multiple apartments rather than be forced to sell their current property in order to buy a new one. This find stems from the Reddit user finding hidden code in the latest patch that allowed them to select the specific property they would like to travel to from the Quick GPS function, rather than just the ‘Home’ option currently available. Obviously we are making this assumption on relatively little but the image captured in-game clearly shows a specific address, which seems like a fairly obvious indication of the change. You can see the Quick GPS menu below…

Given that GTA Online players have been clamouring for more property allowance for some time, its unsurprising that Rockstar have given in to their demands. Loyal fans have been vocal with their disappointment over the growing wait for Heists to be added into the game, so perhaps this will at least buy the developers some time in that regard. Assassin’s Creed: Unity revealed….

Ubisoft has revealed that the latest chapter in the immensely popular Assassin’s Creed franchise will be titled – Assassin’s Creed: Unity. Speculation had been building regarding the next AC instalment and after images of the game leaked last week Ubisoft have now unveiled the game officially. The reveal came in the form of a trailer made up of what Ubisoft are claiming to be Alpha game footage, if this is indeed the case then our eyes are definitely in for a treat as the scenes shown are distinctly stunning despite it only being a very early cut of the game.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity trailer snapshot….

Not long ago ANX reported that Jade Raymond of Ubisoft Montréal had been quoted saying the next Assassin Creed game would not be set during the rumoured era of Feudal Japan, but that it would be set during her “personal favourite” historic era. As it turns out that era appears to be the French Revolution. Kotaku recently reported leaked images of an up and coming AC game, which when compared to the footage in the trailer, do seem fairly genuine. The images in question features the latest protagonist walking the streets of Paris, but most importantly he seems to be an uncanny resemblance of the man shown in the official trailer. According to sources confirmed by Eurogamer, this latest AC game will feature 18th Century Paris and a new playable character called Arno.

Leaked images…

The trailer for Assassin’s Creed: Unity, which you can see below, features a handful of empty alleys and streets around Paris and finishes by showing a huge crowd surrounding what appears to be some form of public execution. Although it hasn’t been confirmed, ANX speculates that the story will focus to some extent around the famous Reign of Terror era towards the end of the French revolution, between June 1793 to July 1794. The reason behind this suspicion being that the star of this particular execution is an 18th century guillotine. The guillotine was infamously used by the French during this period, but specifically after the revolution itself during the political chicanery that followed. Large public guillotine executions like the one shown in the trailer were held all through the ‘Terror’ period, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to see the story at least partially take place during this time. Many high profile executions were also carried out throughout this timeline, historic figures such as King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were given the chop in scenarios not too dissimilar to the scene at the climax of the reveal. Given AC’s reputation for attempting to weave genuine historic figures into their own twisted version of history, it’s not unlikely this theory could turn out to be true.

Of course at this point everything is purely conjecture, as we wont truly know what Assassin shenanigans we’ll be getting up to until Ubisoft officially announces it. Given that they have released an Assassin’s Creed game every November for the last five years, we doubt it will be long until we get some more details on this up and coming title. Assassins Creed: Unity will be exclusive to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

GTA V Jetpack update…

GTA V jetpack

Ever heard of Jake Steed? No? Me neither. According to literally hundreds of GTA V super fans though, he may be the key to unlocking the mystery of the toy every GTA fan is aching to have… the elusive, hilarious and scientifically possible (cough) JETPACK. The Grand Theft Auto jetpack has become something of a cult legend amongst fans of the series following its debut in GTA San Andreas. Before we dive into this latest rumour though, allow me to remind you of the short but sweet history behind this beloved device.

The Mount Chiliad mystery...

The Mount Chiliad mystery…

The Jetpack was originally unlocked during the mission ‘Black Project’ in which the player was sent to a secret government facility in the desert to steal a top secret device and escape with it. The mixture of stealth, action and the final jetpack escape earned the mission high regard amongst fans and was the beginning of a great love affair with the highly useful jet-propelled backpack. A few years later Rockstar released GTA IV, which unlike San Andreas had much grittier and serious tone. This generally went down well, however whilst fans appreciated the new direction they also voiced their displeasure at the lack of the silly sparkle coined by older iterations of the franchise and that leaving the jetpack out was a big loss. Rockstar responded five years later with Grand Theft Auto V and a return to form in the silliness department. Whilst gritty and serious at times, GTA V also included many of the unrealistic hilariousness of old much to fan delight. One item on the fan wish list was still sorely missing though. Which brings us finally to Jake Steed.

Jake Steed is a ‘legendary’ 90s porn star and failed rap artist who was arrested in the year 2000 and fled the US the same year. Assuming most of you aren’t 90’s porn fanatics, what you wont know is that Steed appeared in an adult re-make of the Disney movie The Rocketeer named The Cockateer under the alias of Jack Sheepe. Apart from the witty wordplay, the most interesting thing about this particular film to us is that it largely revolved around the use of jetpacks and that this was Steed’s only film under the alias Jack Sheepe. Now if you drive to Trevor’s airfield in GTA V you find this…

GTA V Jetpack

Get ‘serviced’ by Jack Sheepe…

The Reddit users responsible for this find also noted that ‘Jack Sheepe servicing tri manifold’ is an anagram for ‘Jetpack confirmed’, albeit with a couple of letters left over. Whilst this does seem far fetched on its own, if you add that the runtime for The Rocketeer is exactly 108 minutes on top of what’s already been uncovered then the theory starts to look more and more convincing. As absurd as this conspiracy seems it wouldn’t be beyond GTA V writer and Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser to weave something as ridiculous as this into the GTA narrative. Perhaps even Steed’s rap career had something to do with it. Houser is well know to be a huge music fan and was hugely influenced by the 90s rap scene when originally creating the 3D era of the GTA franchise. His brother and Rockstar co-founder Sam Houser even started out working at record label BMG.

Even if it all turns out to be wishful thinking, you cant help but love a good conspiracy theory and we’re sure that if the Jetpack isn’t in the game at the moment then it no doubt will be added later.

Batman Arkham Knight CONFIRMED…

Batman Arkham Knight

Batman Arkham Knight has been revealed as the third and final chapter of the Rocksteady Arkham franchise. ANX reported last week that a GameStop employee had come forward with what looked like new Arkham advertising material and it turns out that our suspicions were right and as predicted GameInformer was the one given the honour of the big reveal. The final instalment will also finally feature the Batmobile as a key gameplay element, as well as the biggest open world seen in the Arkham franchise, presumably to accommodate for the new Batmobile gameplay. Popular US retailer GameStop have listed Arkham Knight for release on October 14. Considering that GameInformer are owned by GameStop and that Oct 14 is a Tuesday – The traditional day most games are released in the US, its likely that this is accurate. Batman Arkham Knight will be available for Xbox One, PS4 and PC which means any Bat-fans out there who haven’t upgraded to next gen yet better start saving or risk missing out on the finale of one of the greatest franchises of recent years. You can view the explosive new trailer below…

GTA V Heists update…

Grand Theft Auto Online may finally be giving fans what they want as it appears that Rockstar are putting Heist related code into the game with its most recent update. According to popular GTA Online secret outer ‘funmw2’ texts in the patch update 1.10 show that Rockstar are at least building towards adding the heists by secretly laying the groundwork for how the player receives heist information in their apartment as well as info on some sort of in game tournaments. The text relating to heists is shown below…

At the printer, press ~INPUT_CONTEXT~ to collect the heist details.
Press ~INPUT_CONTEXT~ to collect the heist details.
Start Heist

The text refers to a printer which can be found inside the player’s apartment and according to this leak this is where the player will get their heist information from which it will then be put up on the planning board. The hope is that with Rockstar adding this base layer of code into the actual game the highly coveted online heists can’t be too far off , or at the very least Rockstar is in the process of building towards them. Another leak uncovered  by funmw2 shows information hinting at the future inclusion of some sort of online tournaments, although at the moment we are unsure of the actual context and game modes these will be played out in. You can see the text below..

Tournament Qualification Playlist
You successfully recorded a total time of ~A~. All players that qualify for the Tournament will be contacted by Rockstar once the qualification period is over.
You’ve joined a Tournament Qualification Playlist in progress. Scores from this attempt will not be submitted.
Are you sure you want to start this Tournament Playlist?

Its good to see that Rockstar is still working on fresh content as well as the stuff that we are already aware of.

New Batman game to be revealed next week…

According to Kotaku Rocksteady are preparing to unveil their latest entry in the hugely popular Batman Arkham series. Rocksteady have been quiet since beloved Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy appeared to out the next Arkham game in May last year. Conroy had been quoted saying he was currently working on an Arkham game even after publisher Warner Brothers announced that Roger Craig Smith would be standing in for that particular caped crusade. KC then corrected himself by saying “I am in new Arkham game coming soon, not Arkham Origins coming this fall.” Then around two weeks ago a group of journalists were invited to an event at Rocksteady Studios for an unknown reason only for them to leave they left with an embargo that ends in March. For those of you not aware, an embargo is an agreement made by companies with journalists to not disclose information until a certain date. Now a crafty GameStop worker has posted pictures of a new Batman Arkham poster that they have been told is not to be put on display until March 3rd and is to be kept a secret. Apparently he didn’t get that memo. You can see the banner below…

Unfortunately there is no way of knowing if this banner is indeed specifically for a new Arkham game, or just some other Batman Arkham related content. The insider also provided a far less credible picture of a computer screen showing an unnamed title set to be released in November of this year that supposedly represents the mystery Arkham title (Seen Below). GameStop’s magazine, Game Informer, was given the pleasure of revealing Arkham Origins last year so it wouldn’t be a stretch to see them do the honours once again this year. Obviously the picture is far from conclusive but the evidence is certainly starting to pile up. If on top of that you add the fact that every Rocksteady Arkham game so far has been released in November then you certainly have some food for thought at the very least.
