Wolfentein: The New Order

In response to rumours suggesting that Wolfenstein: The New Order would be adding its name to the growing list of games that won’t be running at 1080p 60FPS on the Xbox One, Bethesda have issued a statement to GamingBolt saying that the Xbox One version will indeed run at the highly coveted resolution and FPS speed. This will come as great news to Xbox One owners who must have been worried that the trend of 3rd party games running at lower resolution and framerate to the PS4 counterpart would be continuing. A string of games have been revealed to run at lower specs on the Xbox One such as Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, which runs at 720p 30FPS on Xbox One and 1080p 60FPS on PS4, as well as the up and coming Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes which runs at 1080p on PS4 but only 720p on the Xbox One. Developers have suggested that the partition of the super fast eSRAM inside the Xbox One was proving difficult to make full use of because of it is separate to the larger but slower 8GB of DDR3 RAM. However Sniper Elite 3 senior producer Jean-Baptiste Bolcato thinks that this is a problem that will be solved with more experience developing for the platform and will get easier to manage over time. He went on to say “It’s got better and they are quite comparable machines. The Xbox One is a bit more multimedia, a bit more hub-centric so its a bit more complex. There’s stuff you can and can’t do because it’s a sort of multimedia hub. PS4 doesn’t have that. PS4 is just a games machine.” Hopefully this will be the end of what was becoming a frustrating trend for Xbox Owners and with the fantastic Titanfall on the horizon things are looking up.
